Drama At Omije Ojumi, Gospel Singer Bunmi Akinnaanu’s Burial As Son Denies His Father (video)

Late gospel singer Bunmi Akinnaanu, famous for her hit song Omije Ojumi, was laid to rest on Thursday at Atan Cemetery in Lagos.

Videos circulating on social media captured a heated exchange between the singer’s son and a relative of her ex-husband during the graveside rites.

The situation escalated when her estranged husband, who was not physically present, attempted to speak with the children via a video call.

In one clip, a relative was seen pleading with her son and screaming “He’s your family and he loves you. We want to show our love to you. Your father loves you.” The boy responded angrily, shouting, “I am not!”

The video shows the late singers ex husband trying to talk to their daughter on the phone and she looked uninterested.

During her tribute at the burial, the singer’s daughter expressed her frustration saying “My father left me. He did not care, he did not call. Imagine, now he’s calling, when he knows that someone has left.”

The burial followed days of controversy surrounding earlier funeral arrangements, which had been cancelled and rescheduled following disagreements within the family and with some colleagues in the gospel music community.

The final burial arrangements included a service of songs, candlelight procession, and artistes’ night on January 28, with interment on January 29 strictly for family members.

Ms Akinnaanu died on January 13 after battling health challenges.
