“I Have Not Received Child Support From Davido”, Sophia Momodu Alleges

Sophia Momodu, the first baby mama of Afrobeats star Davido, has addressed recent online posts targeting her 10-year-old daughter, Imade Adeleke, describing them as falsehoods about the child’s well-being.

In a detailed Snapchat post, Sophia emphasized that she has never denied Imade access to her father and prioritizes both her safety and structured schedules. She reassured the public that her daughter is happy, healthy, and thriving, and said anyone who has met Imade can attest to this.

“I woke up to numerous posts that were intentionally targeted at my lovely daughter, trying to portray a false image of her well-being,” Sophia wrote. “As a fiercely protective mother, my initial reaction was emotional, but I knew I had to stand up for my child.”

Sophia revealed that she has been Imade’s primary caregiver for the past five years, covering nearly all of the child’s expenses herself. The only exception has been school fees, which have been provided by Davido’s father, Dr. Adedeji Adeleke, for the past three years.

She also clarified that she has never received formal child support from Davido. Despite this, Imade reportedly lacks nothing and is growing up in a loving, stable environment. Sophia further disclosed that she recently waived all outstanding child support payments and relinquished any future claims, assuming full financial responsibility for her daughter.

“Family is important to me, and I believe it’s essential for my child to have a relationship with both parents. Just as I cherished memories with my late father, I have never denied her father access,” she added.

Sophia concluded by appealing to the public to refrain from including her daughter in false narratives. “Moving forward, I kindly request that my innocent child be left out of false narratives and stories. Let’s channel our energy towards things that are more profitable and healthy,” she said.

Davido has not issued a public response to Sophia’s statement.
